The last two shows were beautiful, but reading the recaps is making me sad. Yes, I got to see them play their final shows, yes I saw them 4 times last year before that. I’m lucky to have gone to even one of those shows.
I really, really, really, really, really, really, really hope he makes some more music though. I know he’s indicated that’s likely, but whatever incarnation, whatever style, whatever length, whatever format, I hope he keeps putting stuff out in some regard.
I’ll go see The Juan Maclean, I’ll go see Gavin live, The Gunnar Bjerk 2015 World Tour, Pat and the Mahoneys, sit ringside for Tyler Pope’s bass battle, take Matt Thornley’s synth workshop, and attend Al Doyle’s Traveling Shirtless Trapeze Act, and maybe, just maybe, one night down the line, out from behind the stage will appear a guy in Yves-Saint Laurent to sit in on cowbell. Goodbye to my favorite band in the world. Hello to the future.
See you all at Hot Chip’s last show in London.
